But after a short while I was convinced that such a method would result in a book with which I should only be dissatisfied. I then decided to make a complete original dictionary of synonyms, laying the emphasis upon words of literary and technical value, but omitting phrases the inclusion of which would swell the book to unreasonable proportions."
