Black Lust

Panurge Press, 1931. limited edition. hardcover. Octavo 312pp. No. 1691 of 2000 printed. Jean de Villiot was a pseudonym used by several authors and compilers working for the publisher Charles Carrington writing novels and “studies” concerning flagellation. This novel is attributed to George Grassal (Hugues Rebell) originally written in French, in 1902, as “La Femme et son maître” (The Woman and her Master). In 1904 “Woman and her Master” was published in English by Charles Carrington. This edition by Panurge Press in 1931 redacted some of the most objectionable flagellation scenes in the book but was still brought up on obscenity charges in the US on publication.
